Snow Questionnaire

As Surrey County Council are unable to grit or clear the pavements and roads in Charlotteville until all priority routes are completely clear, at times of heavy snow it could be days or even weeks before the grit lorry visits and then it will only salt the bus route which leaves the rest of Charlotteville under snow.
The grit-bins are often empty when the snow falls, which means some steeper roads will remain ice rinks.
SCC have given us a one-off funding towards tools and grit-salt to enable us to help ourselves and there is an ongoing snow fund appeal. £6.00 will buy one 25kg bag. Instead of clearing the snow a resident could make a contribution.

With the support of SCC, the Charlotteville Snow Team will be equipped to clear the routes through Charlotteville. The initial priorities are:

• Identify those residents that may need help and allocate two snow buddies

• Deal with ‘risk to life’ areas (Cheselden, Brodie, Baillie, Sydney, Pewley, Semaphore and Sydenham Roads)

• Pavements to be cleared

• To create at least one safe walking route to the two schools from Harvey Road

This is of course, all dependent upon there being enough volunteers to join the Snow Team!
