Millennium

This part of our website commemorates the exhibition arranged by Holy Trinity Amenity Group and held at the Harvey Road Gallery to celebrate the Millennium.  The exhibition materials are stored at Guildford Museum but we took the opportunity to scan them while they were on display at the Residents Luncheon in 2008.

Thanks are given to Jean and Gordon Bridger, Stephen Wright and Holy Trinity Amenity Group for allowing us to display them on this site.

As these pictures were collected more than eight years ago copyright for many of them is unknown.  We would like to acknowledge copyright of these photographs and would ask anyone with claim to this right to contact us, 01483 598 420.

We have generally left the text from the exhibition un-edited but have on some occasions added comments in turquoise to bring history up to date or to add new information.

The following is the Introduction associated with the Exhibition:

CHANGING TIMES IN HOLY TRINITY WARD

This exhibition is a contribution to Guildford's celebration of the new Millennium.

In 1998 Guildford Borough Council brought together many interest groups - representing Sports, the Arts, Youth etc. Representatives of these groups met regularly and planned celebrations to take place throughout the year 2000. HTAG represented Holy Trinity Ward on the 'Wards and Parishes' group, and this is our way of marking the Millennium.

A great deal of material used here comes from the very successful 1985 exhibition at the Harvey Gallery - 'Guildford's First Suburb' and acknowledgements and thanks are due to Don Pendlebury and Stephen Cruikshank, photographer, for their contribution.

Also many thanks to our other contributors and helpers : Pewley Down School, Holy Trinity School, Holy Trinity Church, Surrey Archaeological Society, Mount Alvernia, Surrey Advertiser, Guildford Borough Council, The County School, Russell Chamberlin, Dr Richard Notley, Dr Elliott, Mr Charles Brooking.

We thank our sponsors - Guildford Borough Council (Millennium grant), Bob King, HTAG, and Peter Howe who composed and played the video music.

Thanks also to our exhibition mounting team of Wyn King, Vicky Griffiths, Jean Bridger and helpers, and to Wendy Calegari for the printing and poster work.
